Heritage Minister Copps' Bollywood Shenanigans

CTV research dug up another scandal from the Chretien era. Sheila Copps overruled her bureaucrats and program guidelines to fund the premiere of a Bollywood-style film. The film starred now-Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla, who, until now, has succeeded in preventing the production from ever being released. Regardless, CTF Director Kevin Gaudet protests the politicized subsidy made with taxpayer dollars.

WAIT...I don't get it. If Sheila Copps made the decision to give funding from Heritage Canada to promote a film made in Canada... That's her prerogative. Just like its the Conservatives prerogative to slash funding to the arts community despite outcry from bureaucrats and the public!!

Wow.

Let's take a look at the bigger picture here?

This story seems less of a "defense" of taxpayers, and more of an attack on a successful good looking strong female in politics.

There is no connection in the story between Ruby Dhalla and the funding, instead it revolves around Shiela Copps, but it seems that Conservatives are doing anything in their power to drag Ruby's name through the mud. Which is incredibly unfair.

Why do we as a society try to bring down successful women? We should be rallying and supporting Ruby for being SO incredibly successful as an actress and MP.

I AM A PROUD TAXPAYER AND I AM HAPPY THAT THE GOVERNMENT GAVE FUNDING TO A MOVIE THAT PROMOTES CANADA'S DIVERSITY!!!

I WISH THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT WOULD ALSO TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO FUND ARTISTIC FILMS DEPICTING MULTICULTURALISM!
