Says CTV.

Hey Mayor Sullivan, can you slip me some rock? I got c-note.

Sam Sullivan is the mayor of Vancouver, not Ottawa.

I don't know why I had Ottawa on my brain. Thanks.

You had Ottawa on your brain because the playoffs start tonight and Ottawa is going to win the Cup.

It's simple.

No David, he seems to want to try an approach that may actually do some good, unlike the Bush/Harper war on drugs/tough on crime approach that has proven to be an unmitigated disaster by every measure, except in enriching organized crime.

I agree with mary jane. The war on drugs has been an absolute failure. If you want to read about the people who have spent a life in the war as front line soldiers think, go to www.leap.cc and see and watch the videos. It will open your mind to the reality of the American war on drugs. Personally I think the harpercrits should wake up and stop encouraging the biker gangs to vote conservative by keeping them in business.

anon...thanks for the great link. It gives one a small sliver of hope that sanity may yet prevail on this important issue.

Please spread the word mary jane. If you have a blog put up the banner.

I have to live in this city unlike the 2 pro druggies MJ and Anon. Just what this city needs to attract every drug addict in the world with free drugs.

Perfect and when that happens you think Vancouver has a crime problem now wait until it turns out not everyone can get free drugs.

The americans have spent a half a trillion dollars on the war on drugs and drugs are more plentiful, better quality and lower cost. You might get a few more druggies but there will be less prostitution, less property crime and less health costs.

Im not a druggie Jeff im an economist. Most economists will tell that the war on drugs cannot be won because as long as they are illegal there will be people who are willing to produce and sell them because of the money, that is the risk premiun.
If you are conservative check out the opinion of Ronald Rae-guns head of the Council of Economic Advisors Milton Freidman, who for 35 years has advised legalization.

anon and maryjane are prime examples of why the NDP will never be in power federally.

Lefty... Unfortunately, the NDP doesn't have the vision or the balls to move on this issue, even if they had the power. It's going to take a Nixon goes to China scenario, in which a principled conservative(I'm naive enough to entertain the notion one exists) with the requisite right-wing bona fides sees the situation for what it is: that going down the well-trodden path of Harper/Bush only adds to the misery of the world.

For the record, there is a big difference between LEGALIZATION and taxpayer-funded heroin.

It's a great idea. Hopefully it will draw all the junkies to one spot. Like birds to a feeder, help keep the resultant mess confined to as small an area as possible,

David ... Even giving it away would cost taxpayers a fraction of what is now expended. Yet another reason to take a step down the road to enlightenment.

Maryjane -- I finally understand. Bush went to Iraq to get the oil fields and Canada is in Afghanistan to get the poppy fields. It all finally makes sense...

Supply and demand - supply and demand. People want to have a bit of marijuana from time to time (that's called 'DEMAND') - Harper and his ignorant masses will not address demand so the bikers SUPPLY the DEMAND!

Harper is an idiot. People who want to maintain the ongoing Prohibition are idiots. Bikers LOVE Harper!!!
