Taxing the dead

I just heard about this on Adler. Click here if you want funeral services to be exempt from the GST.

Anonymous said...: Instead of just dealing with funeral services, how's about scrapping estate taxes? Imagine what all the small businesses are going to look in the next 10-20 years when many of the founders pass on and their children have to sell off assets to pay estate taxes. Many of these businesses have everything tied up in assets - there's no cash in the mattress.

Instead of allowing a small businesses to continue being responsible tax payers (on profits - what taxes SHOULD be based upon), many firms will be dealt what may well be a crippling body blow.; 8:12 AM
