Hahaha "pork plant" is that the Sask Legislature?

To be clear, handouts to big business are especially egregious right? It seems to me taxpayers shouldn't give handouts to small businesses either.

This is no small business. It's a multi-million dollar venture that the government promised not to subsidize.

David who did they make that promoise to?

When the plant first closed, they said they would not subsidize it. We said "yeah right." And here we are.

The way I remember it the government (Serby) said, befor the plant even closed, that the government would do whatever they could to protect the jobs.

As far as i am concerned,Mr.Maclean has his head up his backside. We are taxpayers too, even when we are on U.I. Did we get any breaks for last ten months? Answer: NO. This plant has paid millions of dollars in taxes over the last thirty years. The employees all pay their taxes too.Do the employees not get the right to work for more than minimum wage? Obviously Mr.Maclean does not care about the people of saskatchewan and wether they have to leave the province to make better wages to support their families.Maybe once he see`s the workers taxes coming back to the government he will shut his mouth.I doubt it.

Yes, by that argument, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation should support taxpayer-funded bailouts of all failing businesses.

Because, after all, the employees paid taxes.

Should those workers have to work for minimum wage? Of course not. There is a labour shortage right here in Saskatchewan and in the rest of western Canada.

I care about Saskatchewan -- so much so that I'll tolerate the bad-breath shouting from union "counsel."

But the CTF does support taxpayer-funded bailouts of all farm businesses, failing or not. Credible?

I don't think anyone is suggesting that you should support all government bailouts. Just maybe though you should do a little investigation befor you shoot off your mouth.
