Sask: Victory for taxpayers?

Later this morning, the province is announcing something "of importance to agricultural producers." Of course, everyone is speculating this is the much-anticipated school tax relief announcement. The usual rule with government is that only bad news comes out on Friday. With the SARM convention next week, it's possible the government is doing a bit of a roll-out to gets lots of friendly headlines for the next week.

I can't decide if I smell victory, or the pungent odor of spectacular disappointment.

Update: The government is confirming today's announcement is related to school taxes. We'll be looking for substantial and permanent tax relief.

Upperdate: Victory.

This had everything to do with correct an issue when the money was available. It has been in the works for years. It had very little to do with the CTF bitching and moaning.

hehehe. They finally got around to after they had fully funded every other pet project under the sun. Heck, the money your government wasted on the Meadow Lake Mill last year could have funded the tax cut this year. Control government spending and you could eliminate school taxes all together. You are telling me overwhelming public pressure had nothing to do with it?

Still David, your neo-conservative "organization" had nothing to do with it. The majority of the funding was already in place, this was the rest. I wonder what your "members" would think, if they knew their donations wre being wasted and that the CTF was redundant. Now, they are just creating new policy intiatives in programs that do not fall under the category of "taxpayers". This is proof of the lack of direction and inabilty to be satisfied with any results, shown by the CTF. It's time to close shop, or at least unionize, you'll get better quality work done .

Hey sk gov insider, the fact that you are so cantankerous is proof that the CTF is doing it's job. As for this latest move, I agree that being the right thing to do, and long overdue, had little to do with it, I think that it was the tax revolt by more than half of the RM's.
I think that we have a really bad gov here in SK, stuck in the 60's, or 40's, it's time to bury Tommy Douglas and join the 21st century!
And we should change unions too, make them so that they are based upon merit, not seniority, make them work more collaboratively with management, maybe make membership optional!

Hey good ideas, for a moron.
Hey let's take away every right we have fought for over the last 100 years and toss them out the window. Go ahead elect the SP but be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
You make think the NDP is stuck in the middle of last century but the conservative movement is stuck in the middle of the previous century. Your ideas will turn Canada into a 3rd world country. The fact is the CCF/NDP have made this province into a low cost, strong economy province, If they never would have governed, you would probably be a dirt farmer or standing in soup kitchen lines. Remember, the Regina Riot, the poverty, the demonstrations, the starvation, no work, discrimination and abuse of workers caused by your precious invisible hand.
If it as all taken away, then watch your pay diminish, your hours increase or bye-bye job.

Hey Tommy, I always knew that you were misguided: never knew that you were so rude and vulgar and used fear and twisted logic to try and win a debate. You are not dead enough!
HAHAHA!

This cut in property taxes for rural Sask. was done because now the province can afford it. We have some surplus funds because of our government not because of the opposition or CTF. The Provincial government(The Sask.Taxpayers) have tried to woo rural Sask with hundreds of millions of dollars over the years. All the Sask party says is we can do more. All the Sask party does is go against the Taxpayers of Sask out of spite. They still can't get around the fact that their cronies(Tories) broke this province by spending and cutting taxes to the extreme. The farmers should thank the rest of us Sask. Taxpayers for their daily bread.
