Isn't it just amazing how the glaciers and The Great Architect knew where to put the edges of oil and gas deposits to the advantage of those lucky Albertans?

Did you know that 60% of our natural gas goes to the USA. Who needs who? We should flex our muscles when America starts whining because we are more efficient at producing lumber, grains and cattle. Calling our efficiencies subsidies is not fair. We should withhold our natural gas then watch them cry. But then our oil is controlled by US firms. So that will never happen. There isn't a tory who will stand up to America for Canada. The tories take their policies right out of American right wing think tanks.Alberta is the 51st state of America. That's their problem. There isn't even a decent opposition in the Alberta Government. No accountability. You need an effective opposition to keep the rulers honest. The oil companies run Alberta. Not the tories. Call me crazy if you want but history has shown tory times are hard times.

Archie, I will call you crazy.

And speaking of hard times, have been out of Saskatchestan lately? Or are you a prisoner of Calvert'
s gulag?

Archie LOVES waiting for the government of Saskatchewan to operate on his head.Archie doesn't mind that young families and skilled workers keep leaving and th population drops. Archie doesn't mind waiting in line at the local Gov of SK liquor Board store; Archie remembers th 30's, thinks that things are great, why, we have running water!! And I don;t think that he's been out of Saskatchestan, becasue if he had, he would ahve seen how we are 20 years behind the rest of the world.
p.s.: Merry Christmas, Archie!

"To wait in line is to be civilized" one Regina lawyer/political activist once told me.

The Soviets had everyone (except party members) waiting in line half their lives so that they had no time/energy left for dissent. Many were extremely grateful that they were not starving or getting shot.
