Mill deal unplugged?
By Barry Glass Herald
Staff Herald
Weyerhaeuser’s Prince Albert mill.
Poor treatment by the province and task force leader Eldon Lautermilch could kill a deal with Chinese investors interested in the Weyerhaeuser plant, says the broker working on the proposal.
In particular, holding up the deal is a lack of clarity on what kind of offer SaskPower would make if these investors built a $150-million cogeneration plant with a U.S. partner.
Clarence Ekstrand, a Calgary-based consultant, used words such as flabbergasted, disgusted and astonished during a phone interview to describe his dealings with the province.

Lautermilch is a disgrace: I suppose that if you're on the dole, you can trust him to give some payola: but you would trust him with your own money if you were an invester afeter his history of mismanagement and cover-up? he's an embarraseement to this province.
Could they deliberately be sabatoging potential private-sector purchases so that the gubment can buy the pulp mill?
Why is a "legitimate" advisor going to the media with such incendiary statements instead of negotiating with the owners of the facility?
Because the vendor (Weyerheauser) has no control over SaskPower, labour leg and taxation policy.
Did you watch the TV from the Legislature. The deal isn't scapped it's just on hold until both parties can work something out. The buyer wants t scrap any labour, enviromental or royalty deal that Weyerhauser had with the government. That's what's holding it up. If you watched the legislature broadcast you'd have seen the reading of the offer.
Brad Wall tried to make a mountain out of nothing.
I don't know much about Lautermilch, but if anyone is associating with Clarence Ekstrand then they are likely of the same ilk. The backgrounds of people who come out of the woodwork and attempt to coerce Governments and large corporations into deals should be thoroughly researched before having their letter read into parliment a. to find out if they are legit or just some crackpot who has a big scheme up their sleeve.
