Not only do they not want any private medicine in Saskatchewan, they want to ban the USE of private MRI results in Saskatchewan. Wow.
At issue is Resolution H5 from Health Minister John Nilson's own Regina Lakeview riding -- the fifth of 102 resolutions some 600 Saskatchewan NDP delegates will be debating at their annual convention in Regina this weekend. After a lengthy preamble that equates private diagnostic clinics with tobacco companies that engage in "deceptive marketing" and "exploit the fear, ignorance and pain" of sick people, the NDP resolution resolves the party to call on the government to "ban private medical diagnostic clinics in Saskatchewan."Exploiting fear, ignorance and pain. Hmmmm....that sounds really familiar. Where have I seen this tactic employed before?
It further asks for a ban on advertising private diagnostic clinics coming into Saskatchewan and the importing of test results from private diagnostic clinics into our public health care system."

David -- A very interesting news story. It's bad enough that the Sask NDP opposes private MRI clinics, but to ban the results, too? That's unbelievable, even coming from our socialist friends. As they say, there's no accounting for taste!
The fact remains this is akin to members of the Conservative Party bringing forth resolutions on SSM and abortion. It is certain elements of the party that have grounded themselves in ideology and it's chances of passing are slim to none. Even the very biased LP was able to mention this in its article. Such sensationalism is very sad indeed and goes to show the true one-sided nature of your opinions. Shame on you !
Shame on you for having bad manners Chad; don't they teach you 30-something kids manners in school anymore?
PS
Moats:
Time for some fact-checking. The Conservatives don't have any policy on abortion.
Get a job and quit being an NDP mouth-piece.

Yes, this is just a resolution at a party convention. And the NDP should be applauded for having an open, democratic style at their conventions. What is shocking is that anybody in their right mind would advocate such a resolution. If any other party debated such nonsense, it would get equal sensational treatment on this blog.
Chad, I for one beleive that the NDP do exploit fear, ignorance and pain: I just read today the CA report on SK entitled "Building for the next Century", and one of the trends it notes, besides the fact that we are losing people and jobs, is that a disproportionate number of those leaving are young and well educated: this means that more uneducated, vulnerable and gullible NDP voters are left behind, just waiting for the NDP "exploiting fear, ignorance and pain" again.
You see Chad, when people are strong and self-sufficient, they don't need selfish, meddling bleeding-hearts to ekkp them down with faux kindness.
No comment from Chad: I think he's at the NDipper convention!
